This Privacy Policy explains how information about you is collected, used, and shared when you use Cal GPT - Calorie Tracker AI (the “App”), including the Android application (package com.dso.calgpt) and the iOS application (Apple App Store ID 6740245901), together with any related websites and services we provide (collectively, the “Services”).
The App is owned and operated by Kevin Urrutia (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Kevin Urrutia is an independent software developer who builds and operates mobile applications — including this one — and also collaborates with other businesses and clients on their products. 1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address. You may also use the App as an anonymous guest, in which case we create a randomly generated account identifier instead of collecting your name or email.
- Health, fitness, and profile data. Information you enter to set up and use the App, such as your age range, gender, height, weight, target weight, activity level, and fitness goals.
- Food and nutrition data. The meals you log and the calorie, macronutrient, and nutrition details generated from them.
- Photos and images. Photos you capture with your camera or select from your photo library so the App can identify food and estimate its nutritional content.
- Messages and content. Questions, messages, and other content you submit to the App’s AI assistant.
Information collected automatically
- Device and technical data. Device model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone, and similar technical identifiers.
- Usage and diagnostics data. How you interact with the App, feature usage, session activity, and crash and error logs used to keep the App stable and improve it.
- Push notification token. If you enable notifications, we collect a device token so we can deliver reminders and updates.
We do not collect your precise location, and we do not knowingly collect more personal information than is needed to provide the Services.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and your account.
- Analyze the food photos and text you submit to estimate calories, macronutrients, and nutritional information, and to power the AI assistant.
- Personalize your experience, track your progress, and tailor goals and recommendations.
- Send notifications and reminders you have enabled.
- Monitor and improve performance, diagnose problems, and fix bugs and crashes.
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and security risks, and comply with legal obligations.
3. AI Processing of Your Content
To identify food and generate nutritional estimates and assistant responses, the photos and text you submit are sent to third-party artificial-intelligence providers — currently OpenAI and Google — which process this content on our behalf to return results to you. These providers act as our service providers for this purpose. Nutritional values produced by these AI systems are estimates and may not be accurate; see our Terms of Service.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. With vendors who perform services for us, such as cloud hosting and authentication (Google Firebase), sign-in providers (Google, Apple), AI processing (OpenAI, Google), product analytics (PostHog, Microsoft Clarity), and crash and error reporting (Sentry). These providers may only use the information to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons. When we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Each third-party provider handles data under its own privacy policy, including Google (policies.google.com/privacy), Apple (apple.com/legal/privacy), OpenAI (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy), PostHog, Microsoft, and Sentry.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and the information described above for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction. You can view and update your profile and logged data within the App.
- Account and data deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing kevin@ghostailab.com from the address linked to your account, or by using any in-app account-deletion option where available. We will delete your personal data as described in Section 5.
- Notifications and permissions. You can disable push notifications, camera access, and photo access at any time in your device settings.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. 7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at kevin@ghostailab.com and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have data-protection rules different from those of your country.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
